About
Babylon system is the vampire,
Sucking the children day by day,
The Babylon system is the vampire, falling empire,
Sucking the blood of the sufferers.
This blog is about breaking the “Chains of Babylon”.
I am not Jamaican. I’m not a Rastafarian, either.
I’m not even a Trustafarian.
I am a fan of the idea of self-determination and conscious living.
Babylon is an ancient city of Mesopotamia – located in current-day Iraq. Ancient Babylon was the first successful city, where materialism ruled. Babylon has historically stood as the first example of corruption, slavery and oppression. According to the idea of the Babylon system, we are slaves to our money and to the power of the money keepers. We sell our freedom for a few dollars and the comfort of being part of a group. This has become very apparent in the U.S. Almost all of us have debt that we’re forced into a slavery-like existence to maintain. Our jobs are like golden handcuffs – slowly killing us… but we fear not having them. We spend more money and incur more debt to buy things to make us more comfortable while we settle in for a life of indentured servitude.
Tell the children the truth;
Come on and tell the children the truth.
Could you quit your job today? Does the idea scare you?
I would have felt this way, even if I did not find that Bob Marley tape in the hotel room when I was 12. It runs in the family (the self-determination, not the Marley).
During the last year, I became very focused on buying back my slavery chains – one link at a time. I’m off to a good start, but it’s time to become more focused.
Thus begins “The Year of Living Frugally”. One year from now, the plan is to have more choices available. Maybe choose to do some items on my own “Bucket List“, or maybe I’ll be able to put a small down on a house (a better type of slavery chain?). Maybe not have to worry if my unstable place-of-employment goes down the shitter.
This blog is about travel. It is about personal finance. It’s about real estate and the economy. It is about physical, mental and spiritual health. Most of all, it is about freedom and breaking the Chains of Babylon.
Cause we’ve been trodding on your winepress much too long:
Rebel! Rebel!
And we’ve been taken for granted much too long:
Rebel! Rebel!
The first time I listened to the Marley tape, most of the music and ideas were foreign-sounding (it has since grown on me). There was one particular line from a song that hit me (and when it hit me I felt no pain):
Emancipate yourself from mental slavery…
